National Steward System Failed 709 to 432. It needed a 2/3rds majority to pass, and just barely missed it. If this had passed National dues would have increased to $382.00. They are going to rework it and present it again at next years convention. A $26.00 raise for regulars in dues passed due to a million dollar shortfall in reserves.. They will increase from $153.00 to $179.00. Subs dues up $13.per yr. Retirees dues up $12. per year. The Biennial Convention failed again this year.. It got 51%, but needed a 2/3rds majority to pass. More to come... 8/19 They are voting right now to reconsider the National Steward System.. The (New) National Steward System if passed will be raising regularcarrier dues to 384.00 from 382.00 yesterday and lowering retiree duesto 42.00...from 44.00 yesterday The push to revisit the National Steward System was NOT pushed by the National Officers. This was brought up and pursued by a delegate.. The National Steward System has been voted down for a second time. 621 FOR, 520 Against... 759 yes were needed to pass.. It will be reworked and brought up again next year. 8/20 Elections: Cantriel (835)vs Picklesmeir(293) President Dailing(712)vs Duschl(419) Sec/Treas Stutts(922)vs McDonald(205) Dir. of Steward Operations Joey Johnson won unoposed for Director of labor relations Dwyer won unopossed for VP Susan Knapp (597) vs David Heather(453) vs Bridget Boseak (82) Executive Committeeman 2015 National Convention will be in Reno NV.. Thanks for updating the too-poor-to-goers!
Was there any discussion on how to improve the steward system already in place? Any RCA's out there interested in reshaping this union to fit us when we become regulars, click here and let me know your thoughts. Remember, organizing begins with an idea.

I wouldn't say the members are thrilled with the way things are, but then again if you keep sending the same ones as delegates year after year how do you expect a change they are the ones that seem to be thrilled with how it is, I'd say! Not the average joe carrier out here in the real world! So if you only have 6 names on a ballot to vote for who do you think is going to win delegate may only get 12 votes but it still wins! So until one member one vote and this dam good old boy delegate thing is thrown out it ain't changing and it will just finally go broke as it sure isn't going to get any of my money to fund a corrupt system like we have now! OMOV on everything and I'll feel like at least then we all have voice in what we have done to ourselves until then
! Good luck with that National Steward System if it passes I'm sure membership will hit rock bottom with that huge increase in dues! JMHO, which at the moment doesnt matter but if enough drop out they cant keep this dues increasing up on the few they have left so as I've said all along it will finally come to allowing all of us a voice not just the good old boys network to keep these money grubbing guys in there 3 times my pay job! OMOV on everything it could be done very easily now days and a lot cheaper than a stupid national good old boys party every year like they are having now!

To get a change in officers you have to have decent and qualified opposition. Except for the committeman position, there was no real opposition.
|
|
To get a change in officers you only need OMOV then they will change, but sending those same state officers elected year after year as delegates will never make a change till just those same delegates are having to pay all those good old boy salaries and convention parties costs without your help! Yes then thinks will change! OMOV or no dues paying member here! Thats all that needs to be done and yes then things will change until then
! Yes in case you didn't already know " Money Talks" !

Actually, decertification works really well. It is already OMOV. Only requires a simple majority. No retirees can vote.
The members are much better served by a decertification vote, with a replacement rural union being the alternative choice, rather than by starving the beast, which will inevitably harm the members before the NRLCA collapses. But the latter is the path of least resistance, so it's what we are likely to get. |

As it is now, the vast majority of carriers do not vote on ANYTHING. They sit back and do little more than complain.
One other thing, one has to be a union member to vote. |

A portion of our state dues goes to National; if the National Seward System ever passes, the states have the option of reducing dues accordingly. The rise in dues to support the National system can be offset by the reduction in the state dues.

No on a decertification vote they don't have to be a union member only a rural carrier, as for the other vote hows that over $400 a year vote of yours doing at changing things?
|
|
And most will not bother to vote.

Any member of the NRLCA has a right to nominate themselves as a delegate to the National Convention. As long as this is the only system we have, if you are allowed 10 delegates aand 10 delegates nominate themselves they are it & you are stuck with them. All you have to do is nomiante yourself & get the votes you need.

Problem is, K Carrier is NOT a member of the NRLCA.
